It all started with the love of sunflowers and getting a head start on the growing season that grew into bringing joy to others.
Our story
Hi! My name is Jessica and this is my husband, Patrick. I’m the one with the ideas and he is a great sport and makes them come to life!
May 2020, I tried to plant sunflower seeds in my backyard. The next morning, I came out to find that the squirrels had dug them up and eaten them. I ‘jokingly’ said, “We should build a greenhouse so I can germinate seeds without worrying about squirrels.”
I looked online to see how to build one. Old wooden windows made a great greenhouse. A few days later Patrick surprised me with a truck load of windows from his family’s barn! Off we went!
Took us a few weekends to complete it and a few more weeks for me to decorate it the way I wanted to. I thought it was the cutest thing ever… in our backyard, in the middle of town! That summer it became to talk of the town, getting a lot of positive feedback from the community. In the fall, I decorated it for Christmas (my favorite!) and had some friends ask if they could take family Christmas pictures at the ‘Palmyra Greenhouse.’ Off it went on social media. The greenhouse was a “buzz” every weekend with people and photographers using our cute little creation for their Christmas photos. We turned it into a fund raiser which ultimately generated funds to donate grocery store gift cards to 80 local families in need.
In 2021, we wanted to continue the momentum of the greenhouse popularity and decided it was time to expand the garden. We added additional flower beds to share the “home-grown” flower bouquets with the community. Business grew through the Spring and Summer season, by delivering “surprise and delight” bouquets to flower lovers in the Central PA area.
In 2022, we’re continuing to expand by adding a flower truck to our “growing” flower business. We found Rosie, our 1953 Ford pickup-truck, that needed some love and a new home. She arrived at her new ‘home’ at the Palmyra Greenhouse in March. Look for Rosie to be out and about in Central PA filled with BYOB (build-your-own-bouquet) flowers all year at local businesses and pop-up events.
Grown from Seed
Our in season flowers are locally grown under the warm, glowing Central Pennsylvania sun. We do our best in selecting the bouquet of flowers that bring the best of the harvest that time of year.
